We will have an audio guided tour. The Roman city of Pompeii was frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Pompeii's archeological treasures rarely leave Italy, and this national touring exhibit marks the first time that these rare treasures will come to Minnesota. Room-sized frescos, marble and bronze sculptures, jewelry, gold coins, and hundreds of priceless ancient artifacts join body casts of the volcano's victims, eerily preserved in their final frantic moments. Don't miss this moving glimpse through a unique window on the ancient past. *Please call Rebecca Klein at 763-639-7709 for a special registration form. *Deadline to register for this field trip is Sept. 24, 2007. Specifically this will help you scale buildings to the appropriate sizes. This will be a hands-on class. We will apply gold leaf to a candlestick or moulding sample. Then through the use of aging glazes, wax, and other products, we will produce a fantastic aged gold leaf finish! This can also be used over picture frames, cabinetry, mouldings for accents, or furniture items. Basic supplies. March 10, 2008 - French Restaurant and Venetian SuedeCost for members $35.00 (non-members $45.00) Instructed by Jennifer Huehns Simple finishes that are sophisticated and offer the perfect backdrop for any level of interior design. Using Perfetto's Marmo Plaster, create a sample in deep colors of red and ochre. This design has a flat-matte finish with a great depth of color. With walls like these, you can picture yourself sitting in a French restaurant enjoying a great bottle of red wine (and maybe in the company of a tall, dark, handsome, French gentleman!) Using black Venetian plaster and Blue Pearl Shimmered Suede, this finish has a unique linen affect. Today's market is calling for metallics, and this technique can be accomplished in any color combination. Bring basic supplies... chip brushes, cloth rags, apron or paint shirt, notebook, zip lock bags, hair dryer, pen/pencil, ...along with a trowel and a 6"-8" wallpaper brush (if available). I will have extra trowels and wallpaper brushes to lend out.
